With more than 55 years of experience in the meat business, James has butchery in his blood! Originally training with the Co-Op in one of their shops in London, James then moved with his parents to Alton and worked for his father Wilfred at the family shop in Market Street, Alton in the sixties and seventies. In 1977 James moved to Petersfield and bought an existing Butcher Shop in Lavant Street with his brother John. They remained in Petersfield for over 20 years building and developing the business.

In 2001, after a brief break James bought the shop we now operate from in Farnham. This was started with the assistance of Gavin Woodman and the business was operated by the 2 of them for the first few months. James’ other hobbies and interests include cars, motor racing and dining out.


Paul joined his father at the shop in Farnham as the business developed in the early years, arriving in 2003, Paul had previously worked for James at Petersfield on numerous occasions, assisting on the Fresh Fish side of the business.

Paul’s hobbies include Football (Tottenham Hotspur fan, naturally!) and Cycling. During his spare time Paul also enjoys cooking and the movies.


Gavin has been a butcher since he was 13, initially starting as a Saturday boy, Gavin quickly found he enjoyed the business and decided to learn the trade when leaving school. Gavin initially trained as part of a YT Scheme with day release to Southampton Tech, this resulted in him becoming an affiliate member of the Institute of Meat. Following this he undertook a three year course in London as a day release student to become an Associate Member of the Institute of Meat. He joined James at Petersfield in 1998, then again in 2001 to assist with the start up of Morgan’s of Farnham and has been with Morgan’s of Farnham from its first day of trading.

Gavin’s hobbies include Squash, Tennis, Swimming and watching Football (Manchester United supporter)


Chris has been in the butchery trade since his teens and has experience of retail, catering and commercial butchery enterprises.

Chris joined us in December 2009. He’s a keen Leeds Utd fan and a father of 4, which keeps him busy most of the time!


Our newest member of the team and with over 30 years experience in retail butchery. Roy learnt the trade from school, working in the busy Derek Hurst Butcher shop in Alton for 25 years. Following a short spell in Alresford, Roy joined Morgan’s in 2013 and has quickly become a valued and dedicated member of the team.

Roy is a keen Salsa dancer visiting various venues throughout England to develop his dance moves further. His other interests include socialising, eating out and walking.
